# 1.0: Introduction to Pulsr's AI-powered NFT discovery

Visual content, over text, has quickly become the preferred consumption medium for information, entertainment, news, education, and more. The rise of social media such as Tik Tok has dawned a new age of information that leans heavily on visual or audio consumption. <mark style="background-color:purple;">**At the same time, the rise of NFTs has provided an avenue for digital ownership to take place, where internet participants can now own content, and benefit by reputation or monetarily from the ease of measuring and capturing value through tokenization.**</mark>

The cultural significance of digital ownership is growing. This shift in participant consciousness of owning independently, rather than through middlemen, was first conceptualized via owning “money” through cryptocurrency such as Bitcoin. This realization has permeated into the art world where internet participants can now publish, own, earn a reputation, and monetize their creations which centralized platforms have long benefited from owning, and the attention it attracts.&#x20;

First in finance and now art onchain, the normalization of digital ownership will catch on in other industries as well. <mark style="background-color:purple;">**Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) have enormous potential to pioneer the future of digital ownership, yet as long as NFT discoverability requires bootstrapping, discovery scalability will remain stagnant to existing creators and unattractive to future adopters. Currently, NFT creators face three key issues being discovered.**</mark> Firstly, the technology demands time and effort from creators to build multiple audience channels on separate platforms. Secondly, the magnitude of minted work without Web3 Wide indexing positions newly minted pieces at the behest of platform algorithms with rudimentary discovery optimization. Lastly, the centralization of discovery in Web3 creates an inefficient distribution of audience networks and hinders network effects of natural search and discovery.

<mark style="background-color:purple;">**The future of NFT discovery is a non-biased, distributed, and automated model, which requires no-to-minimal integration, or education on best practices for NFT visibility across the iterations of the Web.**</mark> Discoverability must also provide visibility equity between minted creations and future creations, on and offchain, which informs the past, present and future of NFT discoverability across the ecosystem. Distributed discovery will strengthen the visibility of NFTs as a whole while increasing audience interconnectivity through a distributed rather than a centralized model.

# 2.0: How Pulsr works

<mark style="background-color:purple;">**The Pulsr Foundation believes this paradigm shift between visual content and digital ownership is leading Web2’s transition to Web3 where distributed ownership, on distributed platforms, becomes the cornerstone of participation.**</mark> As such discovery and visibility must also evolve from centralized models, to a distributed model.

Since 2021, the Pulsr Foundation has researched, developed and released an AI-powered discovery network that provides distributed Web3 Wide visibility for NFTs across all chains, content mediums and platforms. <mark style="background-color:purple;">**AI is crucial to a distributed discovery system as it is able to label visual and audio content with speed and accuracy while requiring no education.**</mark> Discoverability in Web2 was easier as content was predominantly text-based. This made text-based searches and results easy to match. However, in Web3, content is largely visual and audio which requires an additional text layer. <mark style="background-color:purple;">**The speed at which AI can accurately analyze, label, and conceptualize the volume of NFTs to form a text layer for searching is unmatched and provides a frictionless solution for a discovery standard to be adopted from the start.**</mark>

The network requires no education and no-to-minimal integration by the ecosystem to be utilized. The <mark style="background-color:purple;">**Foundation's technology works by using AI computer vision to analyze multimedia files (image, audio, video etc) stored within smart contracts post or before mint, and stores enriched metadata on a smart contract level that adheres to metadata guidelines aggregated from different protocols where available.**</mark> Furthermore, The Pulsr Foundation focuses on making its developments openly accessible so discovery is distributed as a network, rather than centrally.&#x20;

In instances where metadata enrichment happens before mint, the metadata is stored within the smart contract on the creator’s chosen chain. <mark style="background-color:purple;">**A function that provides permissionless and direct searchability on all platforms.**</mark> Metadata enrichment for existing NFTs however is stored on Pulsr’s blockchain and tagged to the NFT’s transaction ID, which third-party platforms who wish to optimize for visibility can use as Search-As-A-Service.

# 3.0: Amplifying NFT discovery through AI self-learning

<mark style="background-color:purple;">**The more NFTs are analyzed and paired with success or failure data from accuracy of search, forms a dataset the AI can train on.**</mark> The Pulsr Foundation can then further improve its ability to sophisticatedly and accurately label existing and future NFTs based on its growing, and openly available, dataset of enriched NFT metadata. The computer vision AI can then train on this flywheel of growing labelling data, furthering its ability to recognize and label on a compounding level, thus further improving visibility across the ecosystem via network effects.

The Pulsr Foundation has spent two years building a comprehensive <mark style="background-color:purple;">**NFT metadata database for AI training with over 60m+ labels for NFTs across video, image and audio.**</mark> This paired with search to labelling accuracy testing on Pulsr's discovery ecosystem has made fertile ground to start machine learning algorithms to begin training. <mark style="background-color:purple;">**Pulsr's ability to scan and label NFTs can now learn from The Foundation's growing database and begin generalizing labelling accuracy to unseen data, and perform accurate labelling without human instructions.**</mark>&#x20;

This next phase is crucial as NFTs become more sophisticated in their digital expression, and requirements for accurate labelling on subjective rather than objective searches are required. <br>


# 4.0: Creating NFT visibility parity across the ecosystem

NFT’s discoverability dilemma can be likened to published web pages without proper search engine optimization. Without Search-Engine-Optimisation (SEO), relevant web pages are unlikely to be found even if the content is closer to the search prompt. Similarly, web pages with likeness to search queries are also lost. <mark style="background-color:purple;">**As metadata onchain acts as “SEO” for NFTs, without it, hundreds and thousands of relevant NFTs are lost with high volume of minted creations every minute.**</mark>&#x20;

NFT SEO (onchain metadata) has been largely ignored as early adoption focused on minting creations, and relying on NFT platforms for discovery enhancement. As the first use case of NFT platforms where minting and/or serving as marketplaces, discovery was based on word-of-mouth or transaction data, not organic or subjective search. <mark style="background-color:purple;">**As NFT platforms rely on onchain metadata to inform their search, as well as, limited centralized metadata such as name and description when listing an NFT, it has led to inefficiencies between what’s searched and surfacing relevant NFTs across the ecosystem.**</mark> As NFTs gain utility for digital ownership out of the collectibles industry, and into art onchain and beyond, enriched metadata layers for NFTs become crucial as the lynchpin of NFT's adoption. &#x20;

<mark style="background-color:purple;">**A distributed AI-powered Web3 Wide discovery network works to alleviate discovery inefficiencies by equalizing discovery disparity across chains, multi-medium and platforms.**</mark> This means creators benefit by having their work found based on context or similarity relevance which increases their organic audience impressions. Additionally, as discovery solutions happen on a smart contract level, it breaks discovery out of centralization from NFT platforms, and instead creates discovery parity through unbiased, Web3 Wide standardization. <mark style="background-color:purple;">**The natural effects of these changes will encourage the distribution of impressions from isolated audiences across all creations and mediums, regardless of chain, and instead, position the audience’s search experience based on relevancy, rather than vertical attention.**</mark> In short, the discovery paradigm is repositioned from a centralized experience to a distributed one.

The discovery engine makes it easy for Web3’s community to search, filter and discover NFTs based on tastes. The discovery engine is also a NFT marketplace aggregator that connects the ecosystem.&#x20;

<mark style="background-color:purple;">**As this platform reaches network effects of profile creations, wallets are scanned upon profile creations and automatically labelled by Pulsr. Its labelling system is then further informed by what participants are searching, bookmarking and interacting with as to compound Pulsr’s ability to scan and label NFTs more accurately and improve results of its ecosystem.**</mark> The NFT Discovery Engine's main features are;

* **Search and Discovery** feature makes it easy to find NFTs based on collected and created similarities. As Pulsr provides enriched metadata for NFTs across chains and mediums, it means you will find NFTs and profiles that are closer to your interests. One simply uses this search engine like Google to source never seen before NFTs across supported chains and mediums.

# \[Launched] NAME (NFT Automated Metadata Enhancement)

<mark style="background-color:purple;">**NAME provides metadata enrichment upon minting and is built to be integrated into minting platforms. As the creator is about to mint, they will be able to opt to use NAME. By using NAME, creators will have the advantage of scanning and labelling their creators before minting it with a platform.**</mark> This scanning will generate metadata labels via computer vision analysis and following Web3 Wide metadata standards. These metadata labels will also be minted onchain along with the NFT for Web3 Wide visibility.<br>

# \[In Development] Pulsr’s Open NFT Metadata Blockchain

Across its supported chains, Ethereum, Tezos, Polygon and soon Solana, Pulsr has auto-generated 60m+, AI-powered metadata "SEO" for NFTs. <mark style="background-color:purple;">**This is the first, the only, and largest database of text-layered discovery for NFTs, and has been Phase One of Pulsr's larger vision of launching its Open NFT Metadata Blockchain in 2024.**</mark>

Pulsr's NFT metadata labels are housed centrally as of now and are the foundation of search, discovery, and labelling for Pulsr's launched ecosystem: NFT Discovery Engine and NAME. This dataset of enriched metadata labels was required for <mark style="background-color:purple;">**Phase Two of Pulsr's ecosystem launch to make "Search-As-A-Service" available to all providers with search requirements for their users.**</mark>

This is now possible as participants on the retail and ecosystem levels have reached network effects on Pulsr's existing services. Enough metadata has been collected to make it publicly available for all platforms with search needs (any platform with a search bar), to utilize Pulsr's chain as their search database, and to improve discovery for their users no matter the chain, medium, ecosystem, or time of mint.

As Pulsr's chain is <mark style="background-color:purple;">**unbiased, and seeks to lift the discovery experience in Web3 as a whole, there is no "race to the bottom" scenario where discovery is leveraged as a unique value proposition on platforms, rather than approached as a basic ecosystem right of its participants.**</mark> This also means platforms with search needs can focus on their core offerings and lessen technical and operational debt on their resources. The technical write-up of Pulsr's NFT Metadata Blockchain will be released publicly as the Foundation reaches mainnet launch of its AI-powered NFT discovery chain. Pulsr is constantly in development to support all chains that foster an NFT community. We use chain adoption of NFT communities as a signal to supply auto-generated AI labelling for NFTs, however Pulsr intends to service all chains in its pursuit of discovery parity in Web3.

# 6.0 Incentivised adoption through token utility

This section covers the infrastructure aspects of Pulsr's token. Head to section 7.0 $Pulsr's launch strategy and tokenomics.

The Foundation is preparing to launch its token, $PULSR, in early Q2, 2024. **$PULSR is a utility token that incentivizes and rewards network participants on actions that amplify The Pulsr Foundation's protocol fees.** Community-allocated tokens are available to be earned through Pulsr's ecosystem. Token holders are rewarded through unique ecosystem access, community benefits, buybacks and burn, and staking. \

\
**How to pre-earn $Pulsr tokens:** \
\
Before Pulsr's token launch, Pulsr Points are earned through Pulsr's AI-powered NFT Discovery Engine by using its functions and features. Pulsr Points can then be redeemed for $Pulsr tokens at airdrop.\
\
Pre-earn pathways for Pulsr Points are undisclosed. Pulsr Points earned will be dropped weekly to Pulsr accounts and can be multiplied with Pulsr's "Pulsarian" NFT collection.  \

**$Pulsr Rewards System** \

**Buybacks, token burns and staking;**

Protocol fees occur when Pulsr's AI-powered NFT discovery ecosystem is used as a service to boost visibility and/or search-ability of NFTs by NFT platforms or individuals. Protocol fees are used to buyback $Pulsr tokens and then distributed to $Pulsr stakers on third-party platforms and through Pulsr platform stakers. Additionally, token burns occur for NFT platforms that have bought a subscription amount of $Pulsr tokens which burn as the contract expires toward renewal. \

**Protocol fees from NFT platforms for Pulsr's staking distribution and buyback/token burn;**

* Protocol fees occur when NFT platforms leverage NAME to provide better discovery for its creators;
  * To access Pulsr's NAME, NFT minting partners hold a % of $Pulsr tokens for an allocated time to access NAME. As the allotted time counts down, the held tokens for access are burned until completion and the renewal of NAME as a service occurs a new hold and burn schedule by Pulsr's minting partners.
    * As more minting platforms join Pulsr's Network, % of Pulsr tokens to be held and burned will be calculated based on buy pressure and network distribution of $Pulsr.
* Protocol fees also occur from NFT platforms leveraging Pulsr's NFT Metadata Blockchain via Search-As-A-Service.&#x20;
  * For access, NFT platforms hold a % of $Pulsr tokens for an allocated time to access Pulsr's chain. As the subscription counts down, the held tokens are burned until contract completion.&#x20;
    * As platforms join Pulsr's Network, % of Pulsr tokens to be held and burned will be calculated based on buy pressure and network distribution of $Pulsr.

**Protocol fees from individual participants;**&#x20;

* Protocol fees from individuals utilizing Pulsr's NFT Discovery Engine marketplace aggregation feature.&#x20;
  * &#x20;Pulsr's Discovery Engine is a marketplace aggregator that receives referral fees from marketplaces when NFT sales are made from traffic directed from Pulsr's platform. Protocol fees from referrals are then used to buyback Pulsr tokens and distributed to $Pulsr stakers. <br>
* Protocol fees also occur when individuals use NAME on Pulsr's NFT minting partner sites with whom Pulsr shares a fee split. &#x20;
  * Protocol fees from NAME fee splitting are used to buyback Pulsr tokens and distributed to $Pulsr stakers. <br>

**Community Benefits;**&#x20;

* Token holders are eligible for exclusive perks for Pulsr's vibrant community on the intersection of art, technology, and Web3. Access to unique collaborations of online and IRL events, merch and community perks will be carefully curated for the best experience for Pulsr's community. <br>
* Additionally, larger token holders will be able to access crucial protocol calls with Pulsr's team, as they devise and decide on upcoming protocol, roadmap, and scalability calls to gain pre-announcement information. <br>

**Unique Ecosystem Access**;&#x20;

* Function and Feature Voting
  * Pulsr builds its ecosystem upon community feedback. This iterative process allows for Pulsr to build towards community needs, over assumed needs. As such, functions and features are often released, tested, and improved before fully live on the platform. \

    Token holders can propose desired functions and features for Pulsr's ecosystem and vote on which function and features stay. <br>
* Premium discovery features
  * &#x20;While foundation features are available to everyone, Pulsr often releases premium features that boost visibility and discovery of NFTs on the metadata level and search function level. \

    Token holders can use tokens to access Pulsr's premium discovery features for a better experience. <br>

A percentage of Pulsr's protocol fees will be used to distribute to $Pulsr stakers on Pulsr's platform and for those staking $Pulsr on third-party sites. Staking $Pulsr is slated to be automated for $Pulsr token holders on Pulsr's platform.&#x20;

# 8.0 Beyond Web3

The Pulsr Foundation's ambition is to extend its technology ecology to all iterations of the internet. While The Foundation prioritizes Wed3 discovery in its early stages of development to research, develop and release its distributed AI-powered discovery network, there are opportunities in Web2 to provide such a service.
